Environmental education centres

The Environmental and Zoo Education Centre (EZEC) support Department of Education and community schools through various syllabus linked programs both in-person and virtual for all Primary and Secondary stages of learning. Below are a few examples that cover topics including science, geography and wellbeing.

Taronga Zoo Education Centre

The Taronga Zoo Education Centre has a variety of pre-recorded engaging lessons connecting curriculum with the importance and processes of conservation and animal care. All lessons also come with free learning resources.

Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre

The teachers at Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre have developed both primary and secondary virtual excursions and lessons covering a range of topics including aboriginal studies, geography, history, biology, science and technology and human environmental impacts.

Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre

The Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre have put together a variety of online resources for early Stage 1 to Stage 6 covering topics including geography, biology, science and technology. These resources come with recorded lessons and supported activities to help learn about conservation and the relationship between people and the environment.

Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre

The Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre have created a variety of science and geography resources designed for self-directed learning using an immersive virtual fieldwork experience with both online and offline options for all stages 1-6.

Other Virtual Excursions

There are a variety of other virtual excursions that cover a broad range of topics including physics, drama and game coding. Some of these resources require payment and others are completely free of charge and ready for the public to use straight away. The Australian National Maritime Museum

The Australian National Maritime Museum have created curriculum-based virtual excursions with interactive and engaging programs covering all stages 1 to 6 including online learning from home resources. You can even have a self-guided tour of the Endeavour!

The Australian Space Discovery Centre

The Australian Space Discovery Centre host a number of online events that you can book for free as well as the opportunity to have a Q&A with experts in the lates space technology innovations.


Questacon, also known as The National Science and Technology Centre have designed virtual events for both primary and secondary students as well as a variety of online resources to do your own science experiments at home with everyday items.
